The Classic Trench Coat

If there is one thing that every woman should own as a valued possession is a classic trench coat. A timeless piece which you can literally throw over a shirt, dress, denims and instantly look put together. An iconic piece which can turn into a lifesaver anytime. While it is totally ok to be influenced by the trends of the season, but one should also not forget the good old wardrobe essentials. I, myself love experimenting with different styles and looks, however its always good to own a few classics that you can rely on years after years.

I have been looking long for a perfect trench coat for myself, found many, but was somehow never convinced to buy them. Either I did not like the length, color or the fabric and in many cases the fit. I have scanned the winter collection for most brands all these years (although staying in Mumbai, I really didn’t need one) to find myself the perfect one. Finally my wait was over when I laid my eyes on this beautiful piece by Massimo Dutti. It fits like a dream and color is just what I have longed for. I literally checked this piece so many times, even online, that my husband was forced to get it as a gift for me. Although, I am sucker for gifts and do not settle with just clothes to be counted on. But I was gleaming with happiness to see the cover (just because I knew what could be inside it) when he gifted me.

My first choice of styling this, was off course with a black dress, since that’s the safest option. However, I decided to opt for this berry colored dress to give it a twist. Since it has yet not started to be chilly in Delhi, at least in the mornings and afternoon, I could just do with a pair of calf length boots. I have also styled a leopard print scarf in some of the pictures for a contrasting look to with the trench coat. Let me know if you guys like it.

Leave in your comments with how you would/do style your coats.
